An electric sunroof is something that is largely associated with cars available in C-segment onwards. However, here’s a last-get Maruti Alto 800cc model that has been retrofitted with an electric sunroof, K&N filter and an aftermarket exhaust
After 21 years of being the best-selling vehicle in India, the venerable 800 was finally toppled by its successor, the Maruti Alto. The Alto remains one of the top-selling models in India due to its combination of affordable pricing, more modern looks, fuel-efficient engines, and Maruti peerless aftersales service. The Alto has gone through multiple generations since the first model arrived, and it also has a large aftermarket modifying scene in the country, with aftermarket parts widely available. Today we came across this modified Alto that is probably the only one in India with an electric sunroof.

The video of this modified Maruti Alto has been uploaded by ENGINEER SINGH on YouTube. The aftermarket electric sunroof is the main talking point in this Alto and has been neatly integrated into the roof. The hatchback gets quite a few other modifications as well. The front end gets a new black splitter while the headlights have been given a smoked effect. The grille and bumper has been blacked out, with the latter getting a set of aftermarket fog lamps and LED DRLs. Over to the side, the right front fender has been modified to fit in a cold air intake. There are new aftermarket ORVMs and blind spot mirrors, and side skirts. The stock wheels have been replaced by a set of 13-inch aftermarket dual-tone alloys. The rear end of the hatchback is pretty stock except for smoked out taillights and a full-length free-flow exhaust system.
Moving to the inside of this Maruti Alto, the stock steering wheel has been replaced with a Sparco three-spoke unit. There’s a new aftermarket tachometer atop the instrument cluster, a custom gearknob, and an aftermarket touchscreen infotainment system that controls the speaker, sub-woofer and amplifier audio setup.
The Maruti Alto 800 is powered by an 800 cc 4-cylinder petrol engine which makes 49 PS/68 Nm of peak power and torque figures which is mated to a 5-speed manual. There’s a factory-fitted CNG option as well which makes a bit less power and torque figures. Prices for the Alto 800 range from Rs 2.99 lakh – Rs 4.60 lakh, ex-showroom. Maruti is planning to launch an all-new model by the end of this year which is based on the Future S tallboy concept it showcased at the Indian Auto Expo a few years back.
