Granted, the Thar is butch and imposing-looking SUV in the standard-setting as well. However, with some cool modifications, the appearances can be taken to a whole new level. A prime example of that is these images. The dual-tone, red & black theme offers a sporty element to the SUV which works well with the overall character of the Thar. Mahindra Thar Exterior and Interior Modifications
On the outside, the front end is the talking point of this Thar. The blacked-out vertically slated front grille gives the SUV a bold, rugged and old-school appearance. It accentuates the utilitarian aspect of the vehicle. This distinguishes itself from the pretty-looking front ends of regular vehicles. The bumpers are almost cut out from the sides to highlight the off-roading nature of the SUV. The fog lamps are fitted on the bumpers and the approach angle is widely enhanced by this bumper design.

Moving to the inside is where the real modifications are apparent. The red & black theme is visible throughout the cabin starting with the upholstery. To add to this, there are glossy black interior bits to complement this setup. The red accent is also covering the centre of the steering wheel while half of the steering wheel is cover with a glossy black insert. The area between the front seats has glossy black elements appealing to the eye. The armrests are also added to the front seat to increase the comfort quotient of the SUV. The interior door panels are also finished in glossy black material. This Thar with such modifications to the exterior and interior inspires a lot of other enthusiasts to go for such creative ideas to make their cars look unique.

Specs
Thar comes with the options of either a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine making 150 hp and 320 Nm or a 2.2-litre diesel making 130 hp and 320 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. Both these engines come mated to either a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox and a 4×4 transfer case. The prices start at Rs 12.78 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 15.08 lakh, ex-showroom. In terms of a proper lifestyle off-roader, there is really one rival to the Thar, the Isuzu V-Cross which retails between Rs 16.98 lakh to Rs 24.49 lakh, ex-showroom. Force Gurkha is also about the launch soon which might be a better competitor to the Thar.
