Maruti Swift And All CNG Variants Get More Expensive!

Maruti Suzuki Swift and all CNG-powered Maruti models will see a price hike from July 12, 2021. The largest carmaker in the country has announced a price hike multiple times this year already. This time around the Maruti Swift and all the CNG variants will get costlier by up to Rs 15,000. The carmaker has announced that price hikes are occurring due to a rise in various input costs. This has been the case, especially since the beginning of 2021. As a matter of fact, various other carmakers have also announced price hikes in the past 6 months owing to an increase in input costs. Let us see what exactly this translates to when it comes to actual ex-showroom prices.

Maruti Swift Price Hike

Prior to the price hike, the Maruti Swift cost between Rs 5.73 lakh and Rs 8.27 lakh, ex-showroom. Prices have now gone up by up to Rs 15,000. Also, Maruti Suzuki has the most number of CNG products in its lineup in India by quite some margin. CNG vehicles are starting to gain some popularity in our market after the astronomical rise in petrol prices across the country. Petrol prices now cost upwards of Rs 100 per litre in most cities and people are struggling. The Government has also announced the adoption of CNG vehicles and the introduction of E20 (Ethanol blended petrol) by 2025 in India to reduce the import of fuel. All these factors will ensure that India reduces its dependence on natural resources to power mobility. The electrification process is also growing rapidly in our market. All these factors combined will help us reduce our imports and promote cleaner fuels.

In April, the price hike of the Maruti products was around Rs 22,500 across various variants. This was done to partially offset the rise in input costs. This time around, Maruti CNG products like Alto, Celerio, S-Presso, Wagon R, Eeco and Ertiga have received this price hike. This might be the best time to adopt CNG-powered vehicles because the fuel prices might continue to hurt.
