Tata Nexon became the first Indian car to boast 5-star adult safety rating from G-NCAP- a feat only matched by the Mahindra XUV300
Launched in 2017, the Tata Nexon has been among the more popular models in its segment. While it’s yet to outsell the Maruti Vitara Brezza or the Hyundai Venue, it still enjoys a huge fan following, especially for the world-class safety standard it has set. For the uninitiated, the Nexon has been awarded a full 5-star crash safety rating by Global NCAP in adult protection. More than this high score, it’s actually the various mishaps that are regularly reported that goes on to highlight the robustness of the model. The latest incident to come to light is yet another proof of the build quality of this SUV.

Seen in the pictures that we have on this page is a brand new Tata Nexon that has crashed through a wall As can be seen, the car is almost half-way through the brick structure, which clearly indicates the high speed at which this crash would have taken place. Interestingly, however, the front-end of the vehicle seems to bear no signs of a major crash. True, careful observation of the pictures reveals a ding or two but there’s actually nothing to tell that this car has not only collided with a wall but even managed to make its way through it. Needless to say, the occupants of the vehicle were saved from any sort of injury. If anything, it’s the brick wall’s ‘build quality’ to test. That said, regardless of how badly the wall was built, one has to give the due credits to the Nexon for remaining largely unscathed.

Tata Nexon has been available in the market with two engine options- 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre turbo diesel. The former produces a maximum power of 120PS, while the latter outputs 110PS. Both the engine variants are on sale with two transmission options – 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT.
Earlier this month, Tata Motors rolled out the ‘Dark Edition’ of the Nexon. Priced from Rs 10.39 lakh (ex-showroom), the all-black colour theme is only available on the XZ and XZ Plus trim level. The new colour treatment brings in an all-black colour scheme inside and out, which is something that was first seen on the Harrier and is now being provided even the Altroz. The Dark Edition of this sub-compact SUV looks really very bold and easily gives some more oomph to a model that’s well past its mid-cycle.
