After a really long wait, the Mahindra XUV700 is finally set to make its global debut on August 15. This is something that has been officially announced by the homegrown carmaker and ahead of the release of the new SUV, Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra, has tweeted about the unveiling. In his tweet, he has referred to the highly awaited flagship as the ‘new beast’.

Tweeting on the impending unveiling of the Mahindra XUV 700, Anand Mahindra tweeted: “It’s coming…@MahindraXUV700 A new best. A beast like nothing you’ve ever seen before… A new ruler of the jungle…Hold your breath… #HelloXUV700.” This goes on to show that the XUV700 could be an offering like none other in its segment.
Also, recent sightings of the Mahindra XUV700 have divulged some important details of the new SUV. For starters, the new model won’t have a radical design and would instead look like a grownup and evolved XUV500. Also, thanks to the numerous teasers we’ve seen so far, it’s for sure that the XUV700 will be a feature-loaded car that will offer a much higher level of equipment than its direct rivals. In fact, from what we feel, even the entry-level versions would come with many standard features.

Right from the lower variants, the XUV700 will offer a Mercedes-like united console for twin digital screens comprising instrument cluster and infotainment unit. Other features that would be on offer on at least the higher trims would include a dual-zone aircon, large panoramic sunroof, clear vision LED headlamps, dual-tone alloy wheels, electric driver seat adjustment, auto high-beam booster, level-2 Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) and 6 airbags. However, thanks to the plethora of features on offer, what’s almost for sure is that the price of the new offering would be higher than its rivals. While there’s time before we can have NCAP test the new SUV, we won’t be surprised to have the new offering score a full 5-star rating.

The Mahindra XUV700 will be sold with two engine options – a petrol and a diesel. The former will be a 2-litre turbocharged offering that would output around 190PS, while the latter will be a 2.2-litre oil burner with roughly 180PS on the tap. Transmission options for both the powerplants will include a 6-speed manual and automatic units. The diesel engine will offer driving modes and even an AWD system will be provided as an optional extra. The XUV 700 will rival the likes of MG Hector+, Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari.
