In this video on YouTube, a Tata Altroz owner drives a brand new Punch. Punch is the latest addition to the Tata Motors family in India. As a matter of fact, Punch shares its engine with the Altroz. Hence, it is very interesting to listen to the opinion of an Altroz owner after driving the Punch. Altroz is already a very popular product for Tata Motors. In fact, it is giving tough competition to the Hyundai i20 in the premium hatchback segment. Punch is expected to bring in the same results in the micro SUV space. Whether or not that comes to pass, we will have to wait and see. For now, let us listen to what the Tata Altroz owner has to say after driving the Punch.

Tata Altroz Owner Drives Punch
The owner is pleasantly surprised by the driving performance of the Punch at low speeds. He particularly mentions that the initial pick up of the Altroz is not the most enthusiastic. This point has been raised by many Altroz owners that it underperforms at the beginning. The Altroz owner also mentions that the AMT on the Punch has been improved over the one Tata offers on the Tiago. The jerks accompanying the AMT gearbox are well contained in the Punch. It also feels quicker and better initially. However, he also mentions that the overall driving dynamics of the Altroz are better. This is due to the body type of Altrzo which is a large hatchback. The Punch, on the other hand, is an SUV. This means that the body roll will be a bit more due to being higher.

Specs
Both these cars come with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 86 hp and 113 Nm of peak power and torque. The Altroz also has a turbo petrol engine on offer which outputs 108 hp and 140 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. The Punch comes with the option of either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The Altroz has no option of an automatic gearbox. The Punch ranges between Rs 5.49 lakh and Rs 9.39 lakh, ex-showroom which might be a bit too high for a car of this segment. The Altroz, on the other hand, costs Rs 5.84 lakh and Rs 9.59 lakh, ex-showroom. We think that the Altroz could still be the better value for money proposition for people looking for a manual.
