The new teaser images and videos released by Renault confirm many design details of the Kwid facelift, most notable being the split headlamp setup.
As Maruti Suzuki is getting ready to launch the S-Presso, Renault is also prepping for its counter move. We have seen many spy shots of the Kwid facelift, but now Renault has officially teased the Kwid facelift with a video on their social media platforms. They have also released an image of the Kwid facelift which confirms many design details we had seen earlier seen in the spy shots.
The Renault Kwid facelift draws many deisgn inspiration from the Renault City K-ZE – an all-electric hatchback that is sold in China. Following the trend in most new cars these days, the Kwid facelift also gets a split headlamp setup with LED DRLs on the top and the main headlamp cluster on the bumper below. A nice design detail is the chrome bar in the grille which looks like its been extended to make for the LED DRLs.
The grille too has been completely redesigned and it looks much in line with the rest of the Renault family. At the rear, it gets a new bumper with reflectors on the sides and new LED tail lamps which further lift the design of the new Kwid. The top-spec climber model will also gets orange highlights around the headlamps and wing mirrors, adding some more quirk to the design.

The Kwid is about to face some real competition from the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and both are being launched at about the same time. All this while, the Kwid went pretty uncontested in the Indian market. Yes, one could say that the Alto was a competitor for the Kwid but the latter was always a step up from the Alto in terms of premiumness and enjoyed a wider fan base. To keep the Kwid at its best, Renault will equip the top-spec Kwid facelift with features like a digital instrument cluster with a tachometer, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a new steering wheel as well, all expected to come from the Renault Triber.

As before, the Kwid will continue with the 54hp, 0.8-litre and 68hp, 1.0-litre petrol engines but they will be BS-IV compliant at launch. Renault will update the engines to BS-VI spec closer to the April 2020 deadline. It will also continue with the 5-speed manual and AMT gearboxes as before. The Kwid facelift is expected to command some premium over the current model but it will still be priced between the Rs. 3-5 lakhs to keep it competitive with the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso.
