Reports suggest that the BS-4 versions of Hyundai Grand i10, Elite i20, Verna and other models will be sold until the BS-6 emission norms deadline kicks in by April 2020.
With the BS-6 emission norms coming in order, the prices of petrol as well as diesel cars will increase by a good difference. This is a mixed issue for a lot of buyers as many are confused if they should buy cheaper BS-4 cars now or wait for the updated BS-6 cars.
Hyundai has decided to continue selling BS-4 vehicles until March 2020. It is likely to introduce BS-6 compliant vehicles in early 2020 itself, but the new models like Creta, Elite i20 and Verna might be launched at the Auto Expo. So, Hyundai is actually selling BS-4 and BS-6 vehicles side by side.
This will be a beneficial move for the manufacturer as BS-4 cars are cheaper than the BS-6 ones. By the time norms kick in, it can encash on the sales and also unload the excess BS-4 vehicle stocks that are stored with the dealers.

Hyundai has already started testing the BS-6 vehicles as they are spied very often. As of now, it has the Grand i10 Nios Petrol and Hyundai Elantra updated with BS-6 engines. Hyundai has decided to continue with all the diesel and petrol engines after the deadline.
In the meanwhile, Hyundai is going to introduce the new 2020 Creta, new Verna and new Elite i20 at the Auto Expo. All three models will undergo major styling changes, get new engines and as usual, get more features onboard. The new Creta has been launched in China while the Verna and Elite i20 are yet to be revealed officially.
The new Creta and Verna will ditch their 1.6 Litre petrol and diesel engines for the BS-6 compliant 1.5 Litre petrol and diesel engines from Kia Seltos. The third engine on the Seltos is a 1.4 Litre turbo-petrol engine, which might also come on the Hyundai cars.
