In China, Hyundai has launched the new 2020 Verna. The sedan undergoes major styling updates, gets new features and BS-6 compliant engines.
Hyundai has finally launched the all-new 2020 Verna in China, with India launch scheduled next year. The new Verna looks sharper, more classy but continues with the earlier available 1.4 Litre petrol engine with BS-6 compliance.
As we see the images, the first thing we notice is that its design is similar to the new global Elantra and Creta. The new 2020 Hyundai Verna gets a bigger cascading grille which makes it look more familiar to its elder sibling, the Elantra. The headlamp design is refreshed and more energetic to look. The bumpers have also been revised with new fog lamp housing. Also, the bonnet gets some new sharp lines.
Front the side, it looks the same except for the new alloy wheels. At the back, you get a newly shaped boot lid which gives it a more upright stance. Of course, you cannot miss out the wraparound LED tail lamps, sharper crease on the rear bumper and the sporty bumper with air vents.

Inside the cabin, you get the same design layout with some changes. Starting off, you get new black-grey dual-tone treatment replacing the black-beige in the current version. You can spot the new floating touchscreen infotainment which looks like a completely new device.
Also aboard is the new fully digital instrument console that replaces the twin analogue console. Rest of the cabin remains unchanged. Also, the new infotainment system will come with Hyundai BlueLink technology, which will get the same features that come in new Creta and Elantra.
Once this new Verna comes to India. under the hood, you will get all-new engines. The 1.5 Litre petrol and 1.5 Litre diesel engines from the Kia Seltos will make its way on the new 2020 Hyundai Verna. The petrol unit produces 115 BHP and 144 Nm of torque. The diesel unit produces 115 BHP and 250 Nm of peak torque.

What remains speculation if the 1.4 Litre Turbo-petrol engine from Seltos will make its way on the new Verna. There are chances of Hyundai introducing this engine because the Venue’s 1.0 Litre turbo-petrol might be a bit low powered on Verna. We are not sure about the gearbox options that might come, but a 6-speed manual gearbox will remain as standard. We cannot rule out the chances that Kia’s transmission options might be seen here as well.
With all these upgrades the prices will increase by a considerable margin. We are hoping to see the new generations of Hyundai Creta and Xcent along with the new Verna at the 2020 Auto Expo.
