Maruti S-Presso has reportedly been spied testing with a CNG kit and also the bigger 1.2 Litre four-cylinder petrol engine from WagonR.
Maruti‘s latest offering on the block is the S-Presso, which is a hatchback-cum-SUV. It is positioned against the likes of Renault Kwid, which gets similar traits. The current price of S-Presso starts off at Rs 3.69 Lakhs to Rs 4.91 Lakhs (Ex-showroom).
As of now, the S-Presso comes with a 1.0 Litre petrol engine that is BS-6 compliant. Going by the new spy shots, reports suggest that the Maruti S-Presso will soon be available with CNG as well. That’s actually set to happen because Maruti has already confirmed that it will put CNG on all small cars.
The current engine of S-Presso delivers 67 BHP and 90 Nm of peak torque. The power, as well as torque, will decrease when CNG is put on board, but the mileage will increase by a huge difference. As far as our expectations go, Maruti could claim mileage of 25 kmpl.

Reports further state that Maruti might also offer the bigger 1.2 Litre four-cylinder petrol engine on the S-Presso. As of now, this engine powers all the hatchbacks and Dzire. The motor pumps out 83 BHP and 113 Nm of peak torque.
With a more powerful engine, the audience base of S-Presso might increase. If this is the case, Maruti is likely to offer both the engines on each variant, however, CNG might only come on the 1.0 Litre engine. Both the engines will be offered with a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT.
Maruti is going to equip other cars like the Swift, Dzire and Baleno with CNG as well. After the company’s decision to discontinue diesel engines, it now relies on CNG to keep the sales upward. Although, there are reports also suggesting that the Vitara Brezza might get CNG as well.

The CNG variant is likely to be introduced on the LXi variant, which will demand Rs 50,000 more easily. If the bigger engine is also being offered sometime later, it will demand nearly Rs 10,000 more for that.
