While the launch of the new generation Mahindra XUV500 is scheduled later, the BS-6 engines will come on the current model itself.
Mahindra is going to introduce new generations of XUV500, Scorpio and Thar at the 2020 Auto Expo. While we expected Mahindra to launch new generations at the Expo, they might just be showcased and be launched later.
As for the XUV500, the launch of its new generation is reportedly scheduled to happen towards the last few months of this year. The current generation Mahindra XUV500 will be equipped with BS-6 engines till the new model is ready.
The BS-6 Mahindra XUV500 will run on the same 2.2 Litre diesel engine, that produces 155 BHP and 360 Nm of peak torque. The new version will get a new 2.0 Litre diesel engine as well, which will produce around 185 BHP and 400 Nm of peak torque (expected figures).

The BS-6 XUV500 is likely to be launched in the coming weeks. There will be no styling changes or no additions to the features list. Only the engine upgrade and a significant price hike will come with the BS-6 model. Also, it will miss out on its AWD variant and come only with FWD configuration.
The prices of XUV500 now start at Rs 12.31 Lakhs and go up to Rs 17.41 Lakhs (W11 Manual) (ex-showroom). It competes with the likes of Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and MG Hector. Soon, there will be more models to join this segment.
